About North Carolina Strawberries:
-
Flavor: North Carolina strawberries are famous for being exceptionally sweet, juicy, and aromatic. They are often picked at the peak of ripeness for outstanding flavor.
-
Texture: They are known to be tender yet firm โ making them excellent for fresh eating, baking, and freezing.
-
Semi-Freestone: While strawberries don't technically have a "pit" like peaches (where "freestone" typically applies), when people say "semi-freestone" about NC strawberries, they mean that the core (or hull) is easy to remove, making them great for slicing and processing. They're easier to work with than denser, firmer berries from cooler regions.
-
Harvest Season: Peak harvest is typically April through early June in North Carolina.
-
Why NC Strawberries Are Special: Grown in rich soil under the warm Carolina sun, these berries are vine-ripened and hand-picked, never gas-ripened like store-bought strawberries. They're fresher, juicier, and more flavorful.
-
Storage: Best enjoyed fresh within a few days or freeze immediately to enjoy their farm-fresh flavor year-round.
